Moonshowers

Rain of a god

It's He'an's way of saying they still love us, isn't it?
— An innocent question
Once every 3 to 7 years, the night sky all around the globe becomes the stage across which thousands of tiny lights trailing behind He'an dance. The atmospheric event generally lasts for a few days, sometimes up to as long as a week, and is marked by evening and nighttime celebrations across the world as people enjoy the light show put on by the their beautiful moon.

Their light to share

Telescopic technology has progressed to the point now where observers can be absolutely sure that the "falling stars" indeed originate somewhere from upon He'an's body -- however the resolution isn't quite good enough to tell exactly what the objects are, so the scientific community is left guessing. Some theories suggest that these objects are a result of asteroid impacts on the dark side of He'an, facing away from the planet, and that bits of space rock shrapnel and pieces of He'an themselves are what are raining down to the earth; however, no such incoming asteroid has been witness prior to a Moonshower.
Another theory, slightly closer to the truth, suggests that it's the slow deterioration of He'an within orbit that is creating these periodic showers. The frigid temperatures and lack of substantial atmosphere make for an incredibly unhurried breakdown of their body, but it's suggested to still be happening at a substantial enough of a pace that every few years, a piece of He'an comes off and breaks apart in the upper atmosphere, spreading debris that burns up into the flashes of light that humanity so loves to watch.
In a way, it's like suggesting that they've been freeze dried up there. Most moisture would be long gone by now. Most of the smaller, more fragile parts of He'an that'd easily break off face away from us, too. They could definitely be what spawns the Moonshowers.

The Moon

He'an was the first god to ever be killed during The Seven Day War; when their assassin discovered that He'an's body didn't die actually die, and just became a husk, he blasted it into space where it's resided ever since as the planet's sole moon.   However, there are many firm believers of the Rescuist faction of He'an worshipers -- these faithful people doubt that He'an ever actually died, and it's their singular goal to try and bring them back to the surface of the planet, no matter the cost.

The Truth is Out There

What if it's not part of He'an, not what is impacting with them, but rather... what's actually been growing on them all this time?

A final theory, made in jest at first but then later seriously considered, is that the shower of falling stars behind He'an are indeed biological, but not intrinsic parts of the God-husk's body breaking off in the cold vaccuum of space. Instead, the source of the fragments falling and burning up in the atmosphere is the same source that has been born from every other God-husk on the planet, and is the same source that has been plaguing humanity ever since the gods first died.

Monstrous Rain

Rendlings can form in a few ways; Ichor interacting with most fauna, high enough concentrations of a God-husk's power spontaneously creating them, or even severed parts of a God-husk gaining a semblence of half-life on their own.   It's long been pondered whether or not He'an has to deal with Rendlings in space; in truth, He'an is no different from the rest, as their body is absolutely riddled with parasitic versions of these horrific monsters. Whether they spawn from He'an's blood interacting with relatively small parasites that hitched a ride into space on them, or if the monsters are of the spontaneously generated variety is unknown -- however the fact of the matter is that Rendlings are up there, and they're continously generating.
Critical Mass
After a long enough time period, between 3 to 7 years, the Rendlings swarming on the dark side of He'an reach a tipping point; scurrying over one-another in an attempt to break free from the moon's embrace, they scramble into masive piles of monsters that manage to detach themselves from He'an's local gravity, launching themselves into space along side the God-husk.   Of course they don't have enough velocity or mass to remain stable in orbit the way He'an does, so the Rendlings quickly plummet to Cathedris over the next few days, creating a rain of "shooting stars" that enthralls and delights those staring up at the night sky.

The truth of what they are is terrifying for but one reason. What happens when the tainted creatures evolve. What happens when some of these things spawned from the remains of a God end up capable of surviving reentry? O.O People who think these naught but cute shooting star type showers gonna be in for an ugly surprise at that point.

Mental note: Let's leave He'an up there and never visit them.
