Rescuists

Believers in He'an's Eventual Return

Tonight our sermon is blessed by clear skies and calm weather, so that we may gaze upon our god and pray for their return in a quiet joy.
— Rescuist Priest
He'an, just like almost every other God-husk, has a multitude of different followings -- some larger, some smaller, and some more fervent. The Rescuists of He'an may be one of the smaller groups that worship the moon god, but they make up for their low amounts of followers with an exceptionally strong belief that one day, He'an will crash down to the planet and return life on Cathedris to what it was before.

Faith of the Eventual Return

Rescuists spend their sermons staring upward into the night sky; much of the time is split between watching He'an as they drift through the void above and reading stories of what He'an was like before The Seven Day War. Because of this, many Rescuists also like to consider themselves as both astronomer and historian -- as both fields play a large part in their faith.

Prophecy

The core that the Rescuists build their faith around is one of return and reset. Many look to the way the other the God-husks wander about causing chaos and mayhem wherever they go, and then compare that to the still beauty of He'an up in space as proof that there is something different about their god.
When He'an returns, their return shall be triumphant and world-shaking, and we shall all be rewarded.
— Rescuist Priest
Their main theory is that of all 14 gods, He'an is the only one that did not become a God-husk. Instead, He'an was ejected from the planet before they could die, and remains frozen in a low orbit around Cathedris. Thus, a Rescuist spends most of their time tracking He'ans orbit -- searching for any sign that might hint towards He'an's Return.

The Great Tower

Perhaps in homage to The Comprilith, where the faithful get most of the pre-war stories of He'an they treasure so much, some Rescuists have started their own colossal tower project. The goal is to create a structure tall and stable enough to reach up out of the atmosphere, to a point where followers can see, and maybe even interact with He'an. The project was started roughly 50 years ago, and has suffered 3 catastrophic collapses, but diehard Rescuists remain undeterred.

Author's Notes

This is probably my most WIP article of all of Summer Camp so far D:   What I intend to add:

  • more tenants of their faith
  • the issues between the rescuists and the deathrites
  • more examples of wacky stuff they get up to as sidebar filler

You should check out the The 5 Shudake, if you want of course.

Thank you! This article definitely deserves a little bit more info and attention, and I'll be putting it near the top of the list of what to update first after SC :)
