Phycaon

Phycaon sits at the head of the The river Sanguin Valley, and controls one of the main grain-producing regions of the Empire. Once in ancient times the second largest of the daemonic cities, its leaders led a league of the tribes and daemon-spawn against imperial encroachment into the region. But when the empire's victory looked inevitable, the tribes made their peace. The population, now thoroughly Civilized during the second age, have a reputation for being serious, respectable and trade-minded, dependable if a bit humorless.   The city is a trade hub, sitting on the river means the goods can be shipped from far inland to anywhere on the The Perassic Sea quite cheaply. Goods from Saneopa, armour and weapons from Myzea, and people from Syronea can be transported as far as Quyaz in as little as 40 days, a journey which could easily take the better part of a year if done by land. The city has been built along numerous canals, dug inland from the river, that criss-cross the city, allowing goods and people to be easily dropped off and picked up anywhere they wish to go. Thus, the city has grown rich on trade, but has also attracted all of the most unsavoury types looking to benefit illegally from that trade. Steppe bandits roam the plainslands North of the city, and the swamplands close to the river have been known to harbour both bandits of their own, but also rebel groups or deserters looking to raid their way to success, and even monsters said to feast off the flesh of stray merchants and travellers.
