Quyaz
Quyaz was a semi-independent mercantile city-state under the Calradian empire, before the rise of the Aserai as a seperate state. The city was able to leverage it's position closest to the North side of The Perassic Sea to control trade to the remainder of the empire. Specifically, it focused on the production and trade in spices, gold, and fine embroideries. This trade made the city quite wealthy, and it was able to assert control over a majority of The Dune Sea.
Since the fall of the Calradian Empire, the city has become the capital of The Aserai Confederacy, and it's ruling Sultan. The city has also become the stepping-off point for any land based attacks onto the mainland of the continent. The city has, with the assistance of Dwarven engineers and Elvish botanists, managed to sustain a significant hydroponic farming capability, allowing it's population to grow to rival that of the largest imperial cities, despite being located in a desert.
The city has a fierce rivalry with Illyria, which has threatened their trade supremacy over the last couple of decades, and the two cities frequently skirmish at sea for control over sea routes in the Levianthan's Sea.
