Human of Calmarendi

Defining Characteristic

Before Jennifer's arrival, every human alive on Calmarendi (everyone in the outside world, at least) was descended from the group of original human settlers who came to Calmarendi sometime around what is now called Cycle 1 in the Calendar of Lorelei. If, and only if, you are one of those descendents can you call yourself a true Human of Calmarendi.

Basic Information

Anatomy

General Morphology

There are few discernible physiological differences between Humans of Calmarendi and Humans of Earth and certainly nothing that would ordinarily make one stand out from a crowd of the other.

Hair Colour

Natural blondes and redheads, whilst not rare on Calmarendi, are certainly far less common than would be the case in Earth's Western populations; black and various shades of dark brown are very much the default. Blonde, red and ginger hair certainly hints at 'other worldliness' in the minds of your average Calmarendian.

Precognition

Time is what keeps everything from happening at once.
— Ray Cummings

But what if you were able, if only mementarily, to slip the constraints of linear time and, perhaps, get a feeling (if not actual detail) of things that are yet to come and, indeed, of things that have already been?

Precognition (or prescience) is a trait commonly associated with the Wanderers but which, to a lesser extent, can manifest itself in members of the general populace. Precognition is almost certainly linked to the faerie-gene and a consequent marginal ability of the prescient to (involuntarily) slip out of the normal temporal realm.

Civilization and Culture

History

So many unanswered questions:
  • Who were the original settlers?
  • Where did they come from?
  • Why did they come?
  • Did any go back whence they came?
