Elmetian Fae

Introduction

To think of the Elmetian Fae as half-human, half-Fae is

  1. to misunderstand what transpired during the “Mingling of the Blood” and
  2. to forget just how long ago this all happened and the many hundreds of generations that have passed in the mean time.

The Elmetian Fae are, in almost all respects, entirely human in nature and physiology, save for some genetic encoding of their Fae ancestry — the so called “fairy-laced DNA”.

History

The Celtic peoples of Northern Europe, Britain and Ireland have, historically, had a particular affinity with the Fae, hence their prevalence in Celtic folklore. However, the Fae that we are interested in here, those who descended upon the woodlands of Elmet back in the time of the Roman occupation or, perhaps, even longer ago than that, and who showed favour towards the Celtic peoples thereabouts, were, in reality, rather more akin to the nymphs of Greek mythology than those we more usually see within the Celtic tradition.
