Macanora Peninsula

Located on the southernmost tip of The Realm of Irimond the Macanora Peninsula can neither be called pastoral nor tame. Its coasts are largely craggy and its soil chalky. The eastern side of the peninsula is adjacent to the Gulf of Thurcona, a dangerous portion of sea, and lined with treacherous shoals that make navigating the waters impossible for all but the most experienced navigators. There is always a strong wind blowing from the east called the Fuèrne Wallwe, the Relentless Grip. This air current has thousands of miles of open sea before it to gather its strength, feeding on warm equatorial currents and colder tides coming down from the northern Adamantine Coast, before unleashing its might with all force on the eastern shores of the Macanora Peninsula. Ships sailing these waters are always in danger to be flung onto the jagged rocks of the coast.
The waters on the western side of the peninsula are much more calm and can be easily navigated even though landing on shore is made difficult by steep cliffs which make out the majority of the shoreline. Nonetheless there are a few favourable bays and coves along the waterfront and at these accesses to the mainland from the sea prosperous settlements have sprung up. For, you see, the Macanora Peninsula is not shy of riches: its most precious assets are emeralds and access to various trade routes. Over a dozen emerald mines have made the lords and ladies of this land into rich individuals whose wealth has put them at eye level with dukes and duchesses.

Then there is the beneficial location of the peninsula, which is adjacent to the region inhabited by The Tribes of Kinbadush: Rivaling Tenebry in its access to the southern seas, it has the benefit of also being closer to The Double Isles of Odobe as well as The Kahanaht Dominion and the eastern seas. Its landscape, particularly the shorelines, might not be favourable compared to temperate Bellecour, but the advantage of its location as a trade hub on a continental scale cannot be denied.
