Ash Elf
Cursed People of Cursed Lands
The Ash Elves, or Ashen Ones as they call themselves, are natives of the doomed continent of Irrylia. While they can often resemble the Moriche with their grey skin, a closer look reveals an Ashen Ones' fiery eyes and dark birthmarks commonly found on their faces and bodies. Their race knows death and doom unlike no other, but are also famed musicians. Years of living in soot and air filled with sulfur has left their voices hollow and quiet, but their skill with the lute or lyre is unmatched.
The Ash Elves are a hardy people and have made a living on bare rock islands surrounded by magma, living out their lives breathing in toxic fumes. Their resistance to such a harsh environment is almost legendary among the Elves, though none envy their lot. Many of the people of Lith would leave doomed Irrylia if they could, but few ships anchor there, and even fewer care enough about rescuing an entire people. Instead, they make do with the cards they have been dealt, finding solace in music and prayer through the rumbling of the Fuming Mountains.

Naming Traditions
Elves are considered children until they declare themselves adults, some time after the hundredth birthday, and before this period they are called by child names.
On declaring adulthood, an elf selects an adult name, although those who knew him or her as a youngster might continue to use the child name. Each elf’s adult name is a unique creation, though it might reflect the names of respected individuals or other family members. Little distinction exists between male names and female names; the groupings here reflect only general tendencies. In addition, every elf bears a family name, typically a combination of other Elvish words. Some elves traveling among humans translate their family names into Common, but others retain the Elvish version.
