Eldar

The First Race to Walk on Calcaria

While there are many races of Elves during these days of unknown and strife, this article will cover the Elves as a unified race and their way of life of old, back when they were the immortals walking on Calcaria. During the ancient times these immortal elves were known as the Eldar, the firstborn.   Borne from the will of the Amari of old, now forgotten by history and drifted into myth, the Elves of ancient times had no concept of Death. They were few compared to today, but their lack of passing meant they knew each other well and lived in tight-knit communities. They were also erudite explorers, eventually settling all four corners of the known world in their magnificent cities, whose ruins still adorn the landscape to this day. These ruins are shunned by common folk, with many an old wives tale being spun about the ancient curse that lies upon them, referring to the Malediction that befell these ancient Elves.   These Eldar were the first to document and categorise the world as it is known today. As the first race to be born on Calcaria the Eldar had an exceptional affinity to the weave of magic, allowing them to perform spells of grandeur.

Naming Traditions

In Old Elven 'thalas' refers to 'place' or 'gathering' and as such all old Elven cities bear the suffix thalas in them. Greatest of these was and is Athalas, though the High Elves that inhabit it today are quite different to the ancient Elves that built it.
