Bridgid Íonachta

Queen Bridgid Íonachta- Ní Riagáin

The last queen of the Seanachaisians, Bridgid Íonachta was caught in the middle of the final conflict between her people and the conspiracy that led to the Daimus III opening the sky and bringing down the Blight. She was chronicled as being wise, beautiful, and talented beyond even the most memorable of her people who, while scattered and scarred still hold her in high regard as a symbol of their culture.

Personal history

Bridgid's early life was one of simple leisure, having been born into the Seanachaisian elite and raised and groomed for her role in the political world she was destined for. While she was the eldest daughter of her family, she did have several brothers and sisters that were delegated to a number of other high ranking societal roles within their culture. Bridgid, however, was held to the highest standard. Her education was such that it rivaled even the most astringent scholars of most other societies, and her ability with song and art was said to have been unmatched, and it was within this ability that she found a great deal of understanding of the world around her, leading her to be slow to anger and quick to forgive.    Her betrothal to Faoilin, the future king, was something that she initially dreaded, but as time went on, the two found that they had a great deal in common and as their wedding day approached, the union seemed to be a thing of fairytales to their public. The wedding was an unforgettable occasion filled with dignitaries from every kingdom and empire, and for a week the entire island was lit of with lights and dancing, and the air filled with otherworldly music that seemed to shift the very foundations of reality.    The initial rule of the pair was one of harmonious peace and prosperity for their people. Content to encourage their subjects to explore their gifts and continue to evolve the arts for which they were known, they began their family within the walls of An Chéad Solas, their shining capital in the center of the Island itself.    Their children, Constance Íonachta , Calista Íonachta , Darragh Íonachta , and Phoebe Íonachta were born over the next century and a half, each one a celebrated addition to the royal family, and each seemingly born with substantial gifts of their own. The last daughter, Phoebe, was born less than a decade before the Blight.    As tensions between the Becht and her kingdom began to strain, she struggled to find some ground upon which they could stand. It seemed that the entire world had united against them for the sake of soothing an upstart tyrant's ego, a fact that she nor her husband could make sense of. This was made even more unbearable by the kidnapping of Phoebe in the year 3 AR. The child was stolen from the castle by an unknown interloper and carried off without a word or letter of ransom, nor was any public call against the family made that would suggest something criminal had occurred. The Royal family, fearful of what could happen if they were to reach out to the public with this, remained silent and reached out to their allies on the mainland instead, beseeching them to quietly look into the disappearance and bring their daughter home. In response, Bridgid sent her remaining children to be hidden away on the Island of Hollow Haven, and was cut off from them not long afterward by the blockade of their Island.    Distraught and angered, the Queen began sending in subversive agents to breach the blockade and begin to seed dissent across the lands, using their ability to sway both hearts and minds to great effect and try to show the Becht as well as their allies the extent of the atrocities that were occuring to them. This campaign was largely successful, for a time, but quickly quelled as the Sovereign Daimus III called in spotters from the Gauldowhynna and the Kingdom of Underhome to assist in circumventing the use of Seanachaisian magic and to tighten the stranglehold on travel the blockade was causing. Unfortunately for the Seanachaisians, this was painfully effective and nullified their stratagem quickly.     With the violence against her people, the loss of one daughter and being unable to reach her other children, Bridgid was distraught and desperate. It was in this hour that she was approached by Mycroft Stapleton , who had located and secured Phoebe, as well as uncovered a devastating conspiratorial plot to wipe out the Seanachaisians entirely. Together, Stapleton and the Royals plotted a means by which they might circumvent this calamity, and while the King was not in favor, they had little choice but to follow the investigator's plot.    In a daring ruse, Faolin sent word to Daimus III of his desire to negotiate terms of surrender, and that in an act of good faith, he would be sending his wife the Queen to deliver these terms personally. The terms were accepted and Bridgid set sail for Armuun the next day. She never reached her destination. The ship was attacked somewhere in The Ephemeral Sea and sunk by a team of mercenaries under the command of Xendal Vedakrhi . The Queen was captured in that raid and brought to Armuun where she was hidden in a secret location underground in the drainage systems below the city with the intention of using her disappearance to incite outrage in King Faolin and spur on the attack against the Island. Stapleton discovered this plot and sent his own team to recover her, which was a success. He and his team took the queen in a daring escape and boarded the waiting airship, the Fettered Cloud and made it into the air, intent on escaping and doing whatever they could to stop the impending doom that was building against her people.    The events that took place aboard the Fettered Cloud are little known, but it is believed that it was here where she was reunited with Phoebe, and that a fight in the air took place between her own forces, and those of the Becht Empire. Some rumors of dragons and high magics surround the events, but whatever occurred, the airship flew over the Isle of Seanachai and nearly made it to the eastern edge of the crescent before the Blight struck, bringing down the ship and killing everyone aboard, including the queen herself.

Quotes & Catchphrases
* Lora Dimitrova is the official voice of the Queen, as featured in the campaign that told the story of the events leading up to the Blight, The Stapleton Investigations. This is her song, and the means by which the Stapleton crew were able to find her following her capture and imprisonment by agents of the Bechtlarite Empire and the conspirators that led Daimus III to his inevitable actions. Giving In is considered her song, as is the custom of her people.
