Seanachaisian

The Scarred Dreamers

Seanachaisians were once revered throughout Cairne for their unmatched mastery over music and poetry, art and artistry. When the Blight ravaged the world, many believed that the Seanachaisians were lost forever, wiped off the face of Cairne along with their homeland. Now, the world has moved on, and the remaining Seanachaisians refugees are left scattered and nationless, trying to find their place in a changed world that seemingly has no space for them.

Basic Information

Anatomy

The natural beauty of the Seanachaisian peoples is irrevocably marred by the forces of the Blight, disfiguring both survivors and future generations of Seanachaisians alike. Void-touched scars cover their entire bodies, with purple and black energy writhing beneath the skin and giving color to the edges of what would otherwise be normal-looking scars. To casual onlookers, the placement of these scars on the body appears random, but closer inspection reveals that they all radiate outward from a single point: a large blast scar located on their chest directly over their heart.   Still, the people of Cairne still find Seanachaisians incredibly beautiful, even with their scarring. They have pale to tan-colored skin with tall and slender figures. High cheekbones and upturned eyes beset faces that vary from cherubic to elegantly angular, and their slightly pointed ears are reminiscent of depictions of the fae in folktales of yore. Their hair falls in beautiful, loose curls in shades ranging from reds to black, and their eyes are commonly green or brown with a piercing gaze that seems to look straight through to the heart. Blonde hair and blue eyes have been known to appear in Seanachaisian populations but are incredibly rare.

Growth Rate & Stages

Seanachaisians undergo a slower maturation process compared to humans. Their most rapid growth phase spans from birth until approximately age 20, after which it decelerates significantly. While outsiders may perceive young Seanachaisians as being physically equivalent to human adults with youthful features, their own kind recognizes them as adolescents. Typically, they attain sexual maturity in their late twenties and achieve full adulthood in Seanachaisian society around the age of 45, marking the point of physical maturity. However, many within their community don't regard a Seanachaisian as fully mentally mature until they reach their early fifties. With a lifespan of around 400 years, Seanachaisians are deemed middle-aged by the time they reach 200 years old.

Ecology and Habitats

While initially house upon the verdant and fertile Seanachaisian Islands, the Seanachaisians are now displaced, finding shelter wherever they can and wherever they feel hidden and safe. Many occupy the wetlands and marshes in the southern region of the cresent, but they are able to make their homes anywhere a human would be able to survive.

Additional Information

Social Structure

Family units are extremely close knit, sharing a kindred bond that surmounts all else in their lives. With so few of them remaining, the Seanachaisians treasure every one of the lives that remain within their specises, viewing each as a precious and invaluable aspect of continuing their culture and legacy. Within the immediate family unit, either by blood or by choice, they are steadfast in their loyalty and love for one another.

Facial characteristics

While at one time considered to be the most beautiful species on the planet, the Seanachaisians now bear the taint of the Blight that nearly exterminated them all, causing them to be born with varying degrees of scarring across their faces and bodies. While they tend to be dark violet to black scar patterns, the Seanachaisians have grown adept at using their natural artistic abilities to embellish these designs in creative ways that make them more pleasing to look at and, in many cases hide them alltogether, though most bear their scars with a degree of indignant pride.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

The remaining Seanachaisian refugees are scattered throughout the world, and can be technically found anywhere as many of the wander, however only a few known permenant settlements exist.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

While they do not have any senses that exceed most human norms, ever Seanachaisian is able to discern colors, tones, and shapes with a prodigious level of accuracy.
