Nix Hollow Woods
A large, mysterious area of woodlands, Nix Hollow is home to many strange and dangerous creatures, as well as plentiful hidden secrets and awe-inspiring wonders.
Geography
The Nix Hollow Woods run from the shores of the Hollow River at the south, up to where the main road heads east to west from Leviva. The ground below the trees undulates gently with rolling hills and rocky outcrops towards the eastern edges where it nears the foothills of the Shattered Spine Mountains. A number of streams and small rivers run through the woods, all eventually finding their way south to join the Hollow River.
History
While the forest is ancient, rumour abounds that there was once a small chiefdom that occupied the area. Supposedly the people who lived there were evil and cruel and, after they were cast down, the gods caused the forest to grow from their remains, so that none might find their dark works. This theory actually holds some sway as, on occasion, those lost in the forest come across ancient, crumbled buildings, or accidentally dig up ancient weapons and tools.
