C1 Session 3

General Summary

When we last left our heroes, they found themselves in a mysterious plane of existence after succumbing to the power of a strange tome. This plane seemed to be a magical and religious place causing the octahedron to glow and untethering Gromlock's saintly connection. Encapsulated by a great, foggy hedge maze, our heroes attempted to understand the puzzle before them. Gromlock threw sacred flames down each of the entrances to no avail and eventually lit the torches in the middle revealing three different seasons. The party at one point also attempted to lift the plate on the ground, which ended in a disembodied force pressing it firmly back into its place.
After debate and destruction of the torch holders, our heroes found themselves disembarking into a great snowy forest. In this snowbound wood, the team fell prey to the elusive Snow Kiddies (or snow bunnies,) animate snowballs that kill for sport. These foes were dispatched with great expediency by Gromlock’s religious prowess, Torque’s mammoth jaws, and Marcon’s monkish celerity.
Many hours and soiled pants later, our heroes happened upon a small keep long abandoned in this snowy plane. It halls contained a few cantrips, armor, weapons and a rebuke from the harshening elements. Rest came while night did not; just the tenuous scatter of light through the mist. Speaking of mist, the group later encountered a number of icy, gargoyle-like Mephits, which ambushed them alongside a mimic disguised as a wooden mannequin. Each hero equally shone in glorious valor slaying the frigid beasts.
The team climbed upward into the Keep’s Tower leading to what seemed to be an ice sculpture of Gromlock. This strange Elemental of Time showed its power by restoring a brass-colored greatsword back to its splendor and congratulated the team on their resolve. As reward, they could ask it a question apiece. In short, the Time Elemental spoke of this plane as a place of tribulation used by the gods often in jest. It also divulged the history of the mysterious octahedron ingot donned by Torque; there are great gem-like fonts or omphalos of power that tether the Elemental Planes to this world. These great omphalos each take shape as a perfect solid and their shards do likewise.
The Elemental then “searched for the spine” and flung the party out into desert bazaar. Finally, a town! The party bought, sold, and traded gear they had plundered since leaving Makent. The celestium sword was appraised and they inquired about the book Yeezy discovered in the Tome. The gnome behind the counter mentioned the writing looked like Vultari, the language of the tribal Ozwok people on the other side of the Great Sand Sea. A page also fell from the book revealing an image one antiques dealer claimed to have seen at an old temple marked on an ancient local map.
Actual Moamar Gadaffi sought to buy new clothes and was urged by the store owner to buy a poncho he wished traverse the desert. He also sought a new staff but was polymorphed into a porcupine after threatening and soiling the pants of the arcana store owner. As the sun begins to fall from the sky, our heroes contemplate their next move…
