The title of Grand Duke of Vel Dran is one of the most ancient and prestigious secular positions in the Kingdom of Drania. It signifies not only dominion over the fertile southern plains of Vel Dran, but also a deep and binding connection to the draconic legacy upon which Drania was founded. The Grand Duke presides over the capital city of Vel Drannis, governs vast swathes of sacred land, and commands the allegiance of vassal lords, knightly orders, and drake-breeders alike.
Traditionally, the Grand Duke is the patriarch of House Dravaryx, whose lineage traces back to a half-dragon warlord of the Age of Ash.
