T'üllmans

Üllemic: T'üllmakar /th'ylːmakhaːɾ/
The t'üllmans1 are the predominantly dwarven inhabitants of the constitutional monarchy of T'üllma in the southern Qug Mountains in central Jælondis. They are the largest highland dwarven ethnic group, with communities found all over Borgalor, particularly Tos Q'eillen in the Southlands.

Culture

Apparel

Due to the dwarves' resistance to low temperatures and the fact that the air in the underground cities and tunnels connecting them stays warm throughout the year, t'üllman clothing, as elsewhere in the Qug Mountains, is lighter than one would expect. Short-sleeved tunics under longer sleeved shirts are common for both men and women, often with one shoulder and arm free. Trousers are usually worn as a status symbol or during festivals.
Monks and nuns usually forgo the shirt in favour of a cloak.

Art

Architecture

The vast majority of settlements in T'üllma are almost if not entirely underground, the largest of which being the capital of Pfepfenirt'a, though a few semi-subterranean villages can be found in the valleys, and major monasteries are usually built on the surface to bring the inhabitants closer to the wind god Üdó.
The latter are built almost entirely out of stone, as is most of the furniture, with trapezoid doorways and windows that get progressively larger on higher floors, and most rooms adorned with intricately woven rugs and tapestries. The latter are also common outside the monasteries, along with carved walls showing various patterns, sacred animals and images from history and mythology.

Cuisine

Traditional t'üllman diet consists mostly of meat, milk and cheese from llamas and cattle -often dried or made into sausages-, roasted barley, beans, mushrooms, butter tea and ale, and mandrakes are eaten in the southern provinces as well. Meat pies and similar pastries are popular, so much that the popular fast-food chain Pastry Palace has so far been unsuccessful at entering the market in T'üllma.

Language

Closely related to eheric spoken in Pfiþós-E'ehir, üllemic is the official language of T'üllma and the most widely spoken in the country as well as acting as one of Borgalor's common tongues, being widely taught in schools as a second or third language. Aside from it, t'üllman monks and nuns also speak a sacred language amongst themselves and during rituals, a common practice in the region.
Üllemic, as in most regions of the Qug Mountains, is written using a runic alphabet, suited for being carved into stone and other hard surfaces, which can be written both horizontally as well as vertically.

Religion

Most t'üllmans adhere to the teaching of Pürik Hö and his disciples, whom they believe to have received visions from the god Üdó around four hundred years ago, making it a branch of üdóism within the common highland dwarven pantheon. Commonly known as twanism, it preaches that the common people can make their prayers heard to the gods either through a pilgrimage to Mt. T'wan or with the aid of monks and nuns, rather than having the monarch and high-ranking clergy pray on their behalf.
T'üllman clergy wear long hair and beards with heavy turquoise stones attached to show their piety.
