Þjaric Elves

The þjaric elves1 are one of the main groups of elves in Borgalor, native to and predominantly found in Þjaris and western Þjan Tundra in the northwestern part of the continent, though they also have significant diaspora in the countries of Erenúm and Þamta in western Jælondis on one hand and Fjún in the Southlands on the other.
Originally a mere subgroup of Jútrilían Elves, þjaric elven culture and society underwent a radical shift some centuries ago as a reaction to human and -to lesser extent- dwarven influence, which they saw as threatening their way of life. Any contact with the outside was shunned and virtually everything regarded as foreign was replaced with more traditional methods or, in case of crops and livestock, fauna and flora native to Þjaris and the tundra. The only domesticated animals that survived this process were certain dog breeds used to guard households and livestock.
Initially divided into numerous kingdoms, chiefdoms and semi-nomadic tribes, by the time this period of isolation ended a few decades ago to aid their elven cousins in the Fell Wars, three countries remained, namely Jolþ to the south, Æjala to the northwest and Ælea to the northeast. Today, Æjala and especially Jolþ have industrialized and adopted certain aspect of modern living so far as it can be adapted to local customs and traditions.
For example, many crystal-powered devices produced in Æjala have a distinct style using techniques similar to those for making traditional bentwood containers.
