Laransted
Laransted is a small province located towards the middle of Kingdom of Tiveldech. This state borders the Voldech River and the Verdana Lake. The state itself is known mostly for its place as the facilitator of all internal discussions and talks. They have proved themselves time and time again to be an effective neutral arbitrator and thusly have earned the title among all the states. They have a very large bureaucracy and show the most consolidated ruling among the regions of Tiveldech.
Structure
Laransted is controlled nominally by the Stedholder, or Steward. The power of the Stedholder is that of supreme judge in the sted. The Stedholder is appointed by Estates General, a collection of representatives from the four estates, The Clergy, The Nobles, The Commoners, and The Arcane (mages).
Estates-General
The Estates-General is the nominal governing body of Laransted. It is made up of members from the Four Estates. There are currently 30 members from the Clergy, 30 from the Nobility, 10 from the Commoners, and 5 from the Arcane. They meet yearly in the Capitol building in Laran. It is generally considered to be somewhat representative, though most elections have property requirements and are decided before hand via deals. Even the Commoner representatives are extremely wealthy compared to the average steder. The Arcane Estate is made up the Sted's mages, though the Estate-General members from this estate rarely attend the meetings. Their place in the Estates-General is largely an honorary one, as many mages find politics a distraction from their other focuses.Territories
