Pheneter, Third Layer of Hell
One half of Pheneter is a marsh that coddles cities in murky groves of trees. The soil is soft and often seeps up through the cobblestone. The other half is a shallow, clear sea with numerous islands of charcoal-black sand. A city of black sandstone glitters in the light dancing off the waves.
Geography
The open, shallow sea spreads endlessly into the distance, shining and dancing with clear water that reflects the blue tint of the sky. Toward the opposite horizon, mangrove trees of varying sizes hold estuaries and patches of dry, soft soil that poke up. The dirt-like ground is a pale brown intertwined with black. The water rests above a base of the same soil here, rather than black sand.
Fauna & Flora
Small silver, grey, and blue creatures that are somewhere between amphibian and fish populate the water. The larger creatures burrow like mud skippers, while other travel in shoals or congregate along the shore. In the sea, small silver fish dart trough the shallows.
Natural Resources
The sand makes for absurdly resilient sandstone when properly treated.
