Avernus, First Layer of Hell
A blasted wasteland of ruined cities, citadels, and battlefields. This is the battleground on which most of the skirmishes and wars in Hell take place.
Geography
Most of Avernus is flat and coated in a layer of pale red sand. Beneath is clay, darker than the sand. Rising from several spots are plateaus of stone, varying in height and width. In every direction, the landscape rolls with dunes and hills, with these stone platforms breaking the horizon. The sky here is devoid of a sun or stars, rather lit through ambient light that permeates the plane. It has a light period of 22 hours and a night period of 12 hours.
Natural Resources
The clay under the sand can be formed into many useful items, ranging from earthenware to bricks.
