The Scavenger Squad

"No army can win without soldiers, and no soldier can survive without equipment." -Lt. Shifty, paraphrasing Warbreed Philosopher-General Golag while opining the Jackals' need for paperclips
Formally, the "Scavenger Squad of the Free Jackals Requisition Team," or more informally "Requisitions," or even yet more informally "The Scavenger Squad" or "Scavs." The Scavenger Squad is the main arm of The Free Jackals requisitions and inventory department. Headed meticulously by Lieutenant Shifty and his nearly constant companion Junior Officer Oaf, this department keeps the Jackals well stocked at all times with two of everything they need, and one of many things they don't. Often fixating on specific inventory discrepancies to the point of mental struggle, the unit nevertheless has been invaluable to the Jackals' success in their recent growth, even at times being the source of ingenious research and development. The unit can be credited with the conversion of every jackal's shovel into an impromptu anti-vampiric weapon. The unit is also responsible for reacting to strategy blunders in recent skirmishes by supplying and requiring training in ranged weapons by the entirety of the jackals. Some have said the unit can devolve into unnecessary fixations, but it is this very meticulous nature that is also their great strength.

Structure

The organizational structure is intertwined with that of the The Free Jackals. It is headed Senior Officer Shifty, who is more hands on with his unit than other Senior Officers tend to be. Under his careful eye, the Scavenger Squad is led by Junior Officer Oaf, under whom are gathered a number of other members with varying degrees of leadership in the Scavenger Squad which corresponds to their position within the Jackals as a whole. For instance, someone may be promoted to the equivalent of Corporal because of their work within the Scavs, which still gives them authority in pitched battle that belies their rank, even though their direct subordinates may not be present. That being said, outside of active battle, they exist within their command structure and follow those rules. Members may be also be transferred in and out of units and even back to the greater Jackals as a whole. Membership in the Scavenger Squad is both a job and a specialization: Members are expected to still perform and practice all regular duties of a Jackal in their day-to-day life (there are no pure paper-pushers, for instance).
