Black Bile of the Earth.

The Black Bile has been used for thousands of years.
It was discovered off the northern coasts when a small amount was found leaking along the ocean bottom. The sailors who were exploring at the time collected a small sample and returned it to Ud-Moaza.
There chemists and engineers studied its properties. When its dangerous properties were discovered the Board of Economic Development in cooperation with the Table for Public Safety and Health brought their concerns to the Paragons.  The two governmental bodies were so concerned with the potential disastrous uses for Black Bile, that they felt Realm wide legislation was needed to protect the prosperity of Az-Atla. The Paragons took the citizen's concerns to the Devouring Mother, and She in turn created specific Statute amendments specifically to limit and control the use of Black Bile.

Material Characteristics

Black Bile is a semi-solid element/mineral. It has a high viscosity and low density. It will float on water. It is very sticky. It is deep black, almost mirror-like when not disturbed. It slowly flows.

Physical & Chemical Properties

This material is naturally warm to the touch, unless is its cooled by an intention. In cooler weather it radiates a little warmth. It is not acidic, and will act as a preservative for anything placed in it. It is flammable.

Black Bile is used in the following way:

As an combustion accelerator or a fuel for industrial machinery/large engines. The capital of Ud-Moaza supplements its geothermal power with Black Bile.
Diluted it is used in make-up to help preserve a youthful appearance.
Diluted it is used to help preserve the longevity of parts for long term storage.
Diluted and mixed with various other minerals it is used as a food preservative.

Located in large underground deposits of the northern coasts of the Realm. Large on ocean platforms are used to drill and mine Black Bile.

Black Bile of the earth comes from deep below. Many researchers believe that Black Bile is a substance essential to the internal functioning of the world. And, many more believe that those of the previous belief are complete idiots.

Black Bile is toxic to living things. Small doses do not seem to have any obvious effects, but large doses will kill as well as preserve.
