Sharaakh

Goddess Apor birthed three sons upon stepping on Ayonerra - Nimrod, Qasim, and the youngest, Sharaakh. They stood beside the mother and watched in awe as she moulded dharaats, carefully crafting each feature upon their metallic flesh.

For centuries, the three brothers stayed youthful. They followed Apor’s every step, always bickering for her affection. The mother split her love evenly. Still, Sharaakh was especially clingy, often seeking her embrace and doing everything to see her smile.

The Rain

When the Rain of Amaars struck, Sharaakh knew the Sun would punish Apor if she hurt its children. Together with his brothers, he promised to protect Ayonerra in her place. But as the creatures wreaked havoc, Apor gathered Amaars and was ready to turn herself into a powerful eruption.

Nimrod embraced the mother’s head, devastated by her choice, but deeming it a necessity.
Qasim grasped her arm, begging for her to reconsider.
Weeping, Sharaakh fell to the ground, clutching Apor's feet, unable to utter a single word.

But the goddess’s heart didn’t waver. Every nearby Amaar met its demise, yet Sharaakh didn't have a single scratch. After the dust settled, the youngest son glanced downwards and saw the goddess's severed legs resting in his arms. Qasim held Apor's arm, but Nimrod was nowhere to be seen.

The two brothers saw a grand golden castle resting atop the mountains. Upon a closer look, the walls breathed. Nimrod had turned himself into the fortress and forbade Sharaakh and Qasim from meeting their mother. Qasim founded the Bridge Empire, taking Apor's arm with him. While dharaats spread her other five arms throughout Ayonerra.

Sharaakh carried Apor's legs behind his back. As time passed, wrinkles creased his face. He missed the mother’s embrace, the security and comfort it brought. Sharaakh loathed Nimrod for keeping her all to himself. For centuries, his resentment and jealousy festered. Not only towards Nimrod but Qasim as well. The youngest son swore to make Apor whole, even if it meant prying her pieces from his dead brothers’ hands.

Magic

The demigod possesses all six blessings available to dharaat's. Additionally, Apor's left leg allows him to absorb non-living material he touches and gain its properties. He can also hide his body parts by pulling them inside his flesh. The demigod becomes heavier the more he engulfs.
The right leg lets Sharaakh rearrange his internal organs. He can also take the organs or absorbed materials out of his body. If he completely removes the material, he can't use its properties anymore.

The Army

By touching a Pillar of the Eternal Sleep, Sharaakh has engulfed thousands of k’nksh. He can choose to kill or absorb them alive. Sharaakh chains the creaky folk to his fingers and hides them inside his flesh when undercover.
As the demi-god devoured more k’nksh, his body began to shift. A long, hairy tail, four arms and three eyes sprouted from his body, while partially emerged k’nksh covered his flesh. His body grew massive, towering over any human.

K'nksh affected not only Sharaakh’s body but his sanity as well. Their paranoia and mania filled his mind. The demi-god turned restless, unpredictable and wary of the Sun, terrified of its awakening and a second inevitable Rain. He fears Apor's sacrifice was in vain. A part of him knows the fear is irrational, but he can't resist. And this turmoil further fuels his desire to reunite with Apor.

Sharaakh hides his identity by shapeshifting into a blind old man. The demi-god can swiftly morph into his true form when needed. His steps are heavy, often leaving deep footprints behind. If asked, he often replies,

“I'm carrying the fears of mankind.”

This is absolutely f-ing great!!! Everything under The Rain feels like something I'd see on a greek vase or hindu mandala, and the concept in general feels like a story I'd learn about in one of my old mythology classes! Bravo, and I'm excited to see what else is here in your world!

What a fantastic read! Can't help but really admire the body horror in the "Army" section of this story.

At the end of everything, hold onto anything.

I've always said: "There's no point in bottling up your anger!" At least that's how I would interpret this wonderful but sad myth. I still hope that he was able to find peace.

Even if the Bridge Empire falls or the Nimrodial Library crumbles, it's doubtful.
