Dharaat Species in Ayonerra | World Anvil

Dharaat

Dharaats were created by goddess Apor after Hskaner's apparent extinction. She formed the race by mixing soil with hska armours, so Menes'has wouldn’t get hold of the powerful weapons.

Magic

Dharaats take magic from Goddess Apor’s six severed arms. Each arm has a temple built on top. Being born near the temple or praying inside it grants the dharaat its specific magic.

a Firozi Temple - Infusing medical substances with magic, heightening their effect.
a Lazhvurdian Temple – Enhancing their own or other dharaat bodies.
a Nikophsian Temple – Exchanging energy with soil and buried hska armour, using them as additional sustenance.
a Northern Divider Temple - Visualizing strengths and weaknesses within the human body.
a Bridge Empire’s Temple – Enhanced reaction time.
a Amaarionese Temple – Vibration sensing, allowing a dharaat to orient themselves in complete darkness and sense approaching people.

If a dharaat prays in all six temples, they hear Apor’s voice. She grants individual magic to those who visit the goddess.

Basic Information

Anatomy
Visually Dharaats look like Dunyars with metallic skin. Which metal their skin looks like has no effect on the body's physical properties. Many have muscular build and weigh considerably more than other humanoid races. Their bodies are incredibly durable, able to withstand continuous direct hits from both blunt and sharp weapons. Dharaats can harden parts of their flesh at will. Neglected skin can develop rust-like lesions, which need filing and ointments to cure. If a dharaat's body part gets extensively heated, it melts and later hardens. Irreversibly damaged flesh turns completely solid.

After death, a dharaat's body fully hardens. The solidified corpse is more durable than any type of metal, except for hska armour.

Genetics and Reproduction
If dharaat parents have differently coloured skin, the child takes after one parent. Childbirth is often prolonged and conceptually equivalent to a battle, where most women are victorious. Dharaats can reproduce with other humanoid races with various degrees of success. Dharaat-stagyar children often suffer from muscle and joint disorder, causing intense pain, which only gets elevated during movement.
Uses, Products & Exploitation
Dharaat bodies are often melted to forge various weapons, armour and items. Showing the dead person's face is taboo and considered highly disrespectful.
