Paralansarr Tsiskari Character in Ayonerra | World Anvil

Paralansarr Tsiskari

Paralansarr’s life hung by a thread even before taking his first breath. Queen Borena had a troubled pregnancy and premature labour, thus many expected the prince to be stillborn. The infant was small enough to fit inside Khelmtiphe Malkisaidek’s palm. Yet Klays’s perseverance and medical expertise ensured the boy’s survival.

Paralansarr was sickly and gaunt throughout his childhood, often needing unpleasant treatments. Many suspected it led to his notable blood phobia. The young prince felt discomfort at any red liquid touching his skin.

As he grew, Paralansarr exchanged his father’s vivid gold, blue and green colours for red and black. They hid any blood spill and became comforting to the prince.

Three Mentors

The prince found interest in anatomy and studied under Klays with great enthusiasm. Lavran trained Paralansarr in combat, inspiring the prince’s interest in pole arms and especially awl pikes. By mixing Klays and Lavran’s teachings, he fights with minimal visible bloodshed while inflicting excessive internal bleeding.

Reon tutored Paralansarr in history, warfare and politics. The prince realised Reon was the true ruler behind the scenes and hoped to learn more from him.

Magic

At birth, Paralansarr’s link to his single black star was so powerful, it turned his hair pitch-black. The strong connection makes Paralansarr constantly hear the gveleshapi’s mocking voice, causing intense migraines.

The prince can sense the surrounding magic and its sources. He can copy two magic skills at a given time after understanding and seeing them in action. If the prince learns a third ability, he will forget the first one. Paralansarr can replicate the lost magic by seeing it again.

The Grand Metal War

Claiming Istahir

Paralansarr’s most notable contribution was claiming the Istahir fortress, which held Reon’s sons, Piino and Rai’Laith. During the Battle of Rebirth, he noticed a faint island silhouette in the sky and alerted Malkisaidek. Aided by his son’s directions, the king raised a massive tree and caught the fortress.

Paralansarr sensed Piino’s magic and followed its path. As he reached a secluded cell, Piino’s dire condition appalled the prince. Paralansarr asked him to open a portal to safety, yet the unconscious man didn’t react. The prince then lifted Piino up and fled the fortress.

Altassan’s Family Massacre

During the assault on the Amaar Empire’s royal castle, Paralansarr saw Reon’s son Rham’Ussu massacre Padishah Altassan’s family. The bloodshed twisted the prince’s stomach. Pain rushed through as the star’s voice bounced inside his brain.
“Drip…Drip… Such vivid red! Why are you looking away? Red is your favourite, isn’t it?”
The prince powered through just long enough to return home. Images of the massacre flooded his sight, zipping and screeching around him. Klays swiftly aided him and ceased further symptoms.

This was Paralansarr’s first touch with Gveltbilva, which became a looming threat ever since.

The Red Guard

Paralansarr formed a division specialising in domestic intelligence and security services. The Red Guard acts as his eyes and ears, spying on notable figures and gathering intel. Paralansarr trusts each member. If any betray him, they fall dead with no visible wound.

The Panic Room

“Did you know His Royal Highness has a doorless room deep inside Istahir?”   “Hush, Mzenna! The guards might hear you!”   “Surely a torture chamber.”
– Gossiping servants.
During Istahir’s renovation, the prince ordered a particular cell’s door removed and walls thickened. Thus, it became accessible only through Piino’s portals.

Whenever Malkisaidek and nobles act insufferable, the work becomes overwhelming or emotions reach a boiling point, Paralansarr and Piino hop inside the room to scream at their hearts’ content. Occasionally, Piino puts in new furniture to replace wrecked chairs and tables.

The room has been especially useful since Reon’s death and Malkisaidek’s disappearance.

Notable relationships

Malkisaidek
Malkisaidek’s tales of dynasty-ending rebellion and blood-filled battles disgusted the young prince.
As he grew, Paralansarr noticed his father’s childishness, arrogance and delusions. He is irritated at king’s lax nature and disregard of responsibilities. Malkisaidek undermining Paralansarr’s accomplishments and seeing him as a soft-natured boy hurts the prince. Yet, the same negligence helps Paralansarr work behind his father’s back and handle the empire’s issues.

Borena
Paralansarr cares for his mother but finds her excessive protectiveness overbearing. He is often distant and prefers staying in Istahir instead of his home.

Reon
Paralansarr respected Reon’s knowledge and sense of responsibility. His death devastated the prince and made him fear for Dayaen’s future.

Klays
The prince feels in debt to Klays. She saved his life and became a valuable mentor. Klays has never underestimated Paralansarr, something the prince can’t say about many others.
Lavran
Paralansarr distrusts his mentor. Even though Lavran denies having magic, the prince sees it flow around him and wonders what else the man hides. Paralansarr doesn’t support Lavran’s occupation of Firoz and his regime.

Piino
Ever since saving Piino from Istahir, the two became inseparable. They jump through hoops, working behind the scenes and handling issues long before they reach Malkisaidek.
The two enjoy listening to portals and laughing at gossip gathered from all around Dayaen.

He definitely needs some sleep. And maybe some hugs.   I like the doorless room where he and Piino can go to scream. I would want to scream too with Malkisaidek as my dad.

Someone get this boy a nap, stat. Love, love, love the art. The one with the king smushing him in a hug made me laugh. Poor kid!

Parr x Good night sleep. The most unrealistic ship on Ayonerra.   Thank you! Any Malk and Parr interaction is really fun to draw. Especially how tiny Parr looks compare to his 2.4 metre tall father.
