Session 16: What's On The Menu

General Summary

With only two days until the wedding of U'la Grimhound and Lord Udon, William Grimhound, Loanedth , Gul'Khaan, and Nil-enor Ulkas wake up from a restless night. Thane returns from a night spent at the bar, and begins asking if the group has come up with any plans for rescuing U'la. The party remembers the half-orc Ve'dek whom Viktor Beauvaine mentioned. The party decided to search for the Hammer & Tongs, after Nil-enor spent some time constructing a new weapon, by the grace of the god Ahmjir's echoing energy. Before Thane left however, he asked William to help find a way for his bartended Cheer to get out of the city. William agreed: he owed Thane big.
Travelling in pairs to avoid suspicion, the party made their way south towards A'mashara's market district, the Mead Meadow. They narrowly avoid someone's chamber pot as they walk. They arrive in the active Mead Meadow, as people go about their business, and try to avoid the ire of the guards. They see a few different stores, including a bar called the Stinking Dragon, some general stores, and a store with a Owlbear painted in the front window. After searching the Meadow for an hour, they find, packed between "The Horny Hobgoblin" and "Mead Meadow Crematorium", the Hammer and Tongs.
Inside the bar, they find a raucous atmosphere, as a packed crowd of patrons dance, drink and enjoy themselves, to the music of a cover band.  Waitress push their way though the crowd, carrying platters of food and drink. Nil-enor and Loanedth make themselves familiar with the bartender, Beppin, while Gul and William find seats on the upper floor. They are each given the specialty menu, and the game is afoot.
Investigating the menu, the group finds something odd about it, and after some clues given by the wait staff, Loanedth is the one who finally figures out the secret of the menu, and the password: CHIMERA. A glance around showed the resident rouge that one of the many paintings of The Twins features a chimera, and the painting is revealed to be a hidden entrance. The group carefully make their way down into the catacombs underneath the bar, and see and hear a half-orc detailing a plan. Our party's presence is revealed by the Firefox living in William's backpack. Ve'dek, accompanied by her fiery elemental, introduces the Resistance, and their plan: blow up the Lord's Castle on the night of the wedding and kill everyone inside. Unfortunatly, that also includes U'la. Ve'dek and William argue about his daughter's life, and both Loanedth and Gul'khaan find themselves siding with Ve'dek, that the most important thing is to kill the lords. But William plays to Ve'dek's sensibilities and desire to protect the innocent, and she agrees to help William rescue his daughter. But to prevent their months-long plan to end the Lord's tyranny, Ve'dek assures William that she will go with the party, to prevent the plan from going awry. She also assures William, that when the Tower of Light strikes midnight on the wedding night, the castle will go up in smoke. Regardless of who is still in there. Including herself, the party, or U'la.
  The clock strikes midday.
