Meakar Unity Hospital is the Federation of Anfieden and Allied Planet's largest hospital, and one of the largest such buildings in the world. It is considered the most advanced hospital in the Galaxy. It is located within the City of Envien, the largest city, and capital of the Iomhare Sector.
The Hospital was built in 4742 after a long period of construction, on the site of the former Greater Envien Hospital. The hospital was named Meakar Unity after the notable explorer Dean Meakar, and the district in which the hospital was built.

Purpose / Function

Maekar Unity's primary purpose is for civilian healthcare, especially specialist and intensive care. It is equipped to deal with almost any medical emergency.
The hospital has also been specifically designed to be able to assist with any military operations, and has specific wards which can be used for that purpose.

History

Original plans for the Meakar Hospital began as early as 4700, as the Greater Envien hospital began to experience drastic overload, especially in the wake of the Henitin Outbreak. The Henitin Outbreak also exposed several key weaknesses of the Greater Envien Hospital, that planners planned to fix.
The building itself, was designed by Apreasean architect, George Gawlre. The hospital would be Gawlre's magnum opus. Planning finished in 4738, and construction began nearly the same month. 
Workers were tasked with creating a new building, while still having the Greater Envien Hospital be operational. This created significant delays, but the workers continued around the clock, until the first outlines of the hospital were finished. 
As the final bricks were laid down on the hospital, the five day long moving process began. Mainly specialist tools and beds. The old Greater Envien Hospital entrance remained for the new hospital. After nearly 4 years, the Meaker Unity Hospital was completed.
