Libertas

On the northern edge of The Wilds, Libertas stands as a bastion of civilization. Unlike most human civilizations, Libertas answers to no monarch. Established nearly two hundred and fifty years ago, this small settlement has grown into a large city. Although mostly populated by Humans, Libertas welcomes anyone wanting to escape their previous homes and counts many races among their ranks. The city is ruled democratically by a number of elected representatives called the Senate. Libertas’s population surged during The Great War as refugees turned to the neutral Libertas for their salvation. However, Libertas is not without its problems. A number of nearby villages and towns often need help defending themselves from The Wilds's savage monsters.

City's History

For many centuries during the Balorn Kingdom, small towns and villages existed outside of the kingdom's control for those seeking a life away from the controlling monarchy. Nearly two hundred and fifty years ago, a powerful priest of Tiamat called the Dragon Seer devastated the land with powerful dragons at his side. A group of five heroes, the Scale Slayers, stopped the Dragon Seer. The heroes brought the surviving villagers together to form a new settlement. Thus Libertas was born as a refuge for those from the wilds of eastern Xorik and those seeking to escape the Balorn Kingdom from the east. Over time, Libertas grew larger and larger to the metropolis it is today. The Scale Slayers decided to make the city democratic to oppose the authority of the Balorn Kingdom and that trend has continued throughout the city's lifetime.
