The Aurum Spire

Purpose / Function

Originally built as a place of academic pilgrimage in which aspiring students of the arcane could travel and study separated from the world but after The Sanguine Court first attacked it was converted into a prison of which dangerous magical beings or potent magical artifacts could be sealed away from any that might be hurt.

Denizens

The major prisoners of the Aurum Spire are the Sanguine Court having been detained in the lower levels of the tower after they were beaten in the past.

Hazards & Traps

To both protect from outside attack and prevent those kept below the spire from breaking free many magical traps are laid throughout the spire.

Alterations

Once filled with rooms of learning and research the upper floors of the spire were converted to house dangerous magical items while beneath the spire a tomb of sorts was constructed that was intended to hold powerful and evil beings where they would never threaten the outside world.

Architecture

Before becoming what it is today the Aurum Spire was a beauty to behold, an architectural wonder in design taking inspiration from across the realm in design, as the largest free-standing tower it was considered a wonderful place regardless of a person's kingdom of origin with many once traveling to Erest simply to see the towering red spire in the horizon. However, now the Republic of Erest sees no reason to maintain the appearance of the Spire seeing as no one visits the tower like it once was.

Defenses

Even with the continuous rotation of knights guarding the spire there are many other defensive safeguards keeping both the dangers of the spire in and unwanted guests out. The tower itself acts as a pseudo magic item having had once been enchanted with a 10th level spell by its builders, the effects of which allow the Republic to recived warnings if something has tried to escape the spire. This enchantment is also what allows the complex layering of arcane runes and glyphs to be overlaped both on the outer and inner walls.

Environmental Effects
The entirety of the upper and subterranean layers of the Aurum Spire is under the constant effects of a large-scale antimagic field maintained by a complex magic crystal crafted and enchanted by the Mages of Mimir to protect the spire and restrain the prisoner's magical abilities.
