The Salty Maiden

Purpose / Function

The Salty Maiden is often the first or last stop for any of the sailors traveling through Fallwen, with the tavern's long history of accommodating homesick travelers or those simply lost to the waves the Salty Maiden has become a beloved place by many.

Design

The main room of the tavern is open with high ceilings and the bar set right in front of the door, off to the side of the bar is a two-floored seating area with tables on the ground floor and first floor accessible by a wooden staircase off the right side of the bar area. Behind the bar is an impressive wall of liquor that Borus keeps very good care of and in the center of the back wall is a monument to those lost out at sea with their names and deaths etched into the plaque. Most of these names were lost on Halligan's ships.

Entries

There is a front door that leads directly into the tavern proper with a back door behind the bartop leading into a storeroom and office-like area for Borus that also has access to the back alley behind the tavern.

Denizens

Borus can most often be found working behind the bar greeting and serving the patrons that find their way to the Salty Maiden. Another usual customer is Barnaby who has become almost like a town celebrity with how successful his sea trips have gone and he always makes sure to return to the tavern with a new story to tell and tankard to raise.

Architecture

Despite being in the more ramshackle section of Fallwen's port the Salty Maiden is built of nicer wood and kept in great condition by its owner Borus.

Tourism

Most of those that come to the Salty Maiden are of the traveling sort, either those seabound or simply moving between places the tavern attracts those who are on their own adventures. SInce Fallwen has very few return visitors in most cases the Salty Maiden welcomes those who have survived there journeys and eagerly accepts their stories.
