Order of K'ynova (key-no-va)

Structure

In the cult, The Black Maw holds the position of leader, a mysterious being that has existed since the beginning. Beneath the Maw sit the two spymasters each with the title of Eyes who are responsible for coordinating the leader's decisions and communication with lower sects within the cult. Each of these lower sections of the cult is directed by "Hands" powerful warriors and spellcasters given strong abilities from the Black Maw themselves.

Culture

All that follow the cult's ideology believe that they are pure beings while the people of the kingdoms are sinners that must be sacrificed for a better and purer world. Most members carry a deep hatred or resentment towards the kingdoms due to either an injustice they faced while other members are driven insane from the dark rituals and practices of the cult leading them to further pursue destruction.

Public Agenda

The Order of K'ynova ultimately aims for the resurrection of their "devil god" Zuht’arnid who will, in turn, bring about the destruction of all the kingdoms in the realm and bring the cultists into the new world now rid of those the cult view as parasites. Only the higher members of the Order truly know the true plans of their "God".

Assets

With years spent in the dark silently amassing funds and supplies, the Order has the means to continue for their twisted goals in seclusion never needing to reveal themselves. Possessing many hideouts and bases throughout the continents the Order can and has moved its operation if they suspected they might be revealed before it was time to step into the light.

Divine Origins

The history of the Order is shrouded in mystery, existing in the shadows the small cult steadily grew gaining more followers and amassing power. Starting from a dark whisper into the minds of the downtrodden the once weak following now worked towards the calling of a dark entity that promised greatness. Causing destruction since the founding of the cult there are many cases of terrible events in the history of the two continents that can be tied to activities of the Order of K'ynova.

Cosmological Views

The Order of K'ynova believes that the world is on the path towards annihilation and that through their belief their "god" will bring them salvation and engulf the realm in a great fire that will burn the kingdoms and their sinful people to ash transforming the world into a haven for the truly righteous to live.

Tenets of Faith

Channel power to the Chained God, so he can break his chains. Retrieve lost relics and construct shrines to the Chained God. Pursue the obliteration of the world, in anticipation of the Chained God’s liberation

Ethics

What makes the cult so terrifying is how willing those who follow its dark covenant are to do any manner of atrocity from killing women and children in blood rituals to sacrificing other cultists if they need or want arises.

Worship

The Cult of the Imprisoned One is a brutal faith believing that through blood sacrifices and offerings to their god they can best commune with his divine will and carry out his commands. The cult is not above committing taboo acts or dark rituals outlawed by the kingdoms of the realm and actively disrupts the balance of life and death through necromancy and dark resurrections both of which are taboo in all countries. Those in the cult believe that through chaos and destruction they can weaken the bonds preventing their god from entering our plain so many higher cultists have manipulated events across the realm with the aim of causing great destruction and hiding their movements.

Priesthood

Tharizdun’s worshippers are often insane. Their ultimate goal is to free their dark deity from his prison. Like his lay worshippers, many of Tharizdun’s priests are mad. Those who are not mad believe (falsely) that they will reap great rewards and privileges for their aid in freeing him. All of his clerics are extremely secretive and trust only fellow cultists. They lead foul rituals, including human sacrifice, and search ancient sites for clues to freeing their deity. Due to Tharizdun’s imprisonment, his priests must remain in contact with a site or object holding some of the Dark God’s power in order to use their magic. Their favored weapon is the dagger, although various typos have led to confusion on this issue.   Most of the Order of K'ynova is unaware that they are followers of Tharizdun, ultimately believing themselves to be worshiping a devil god that will bring salvation. The upper members of the cult are aware of the Order's true allegiances.

Political Influence & Intrigue

Due to the secretive nature of the Order, most countries in the realm are unaware of the cult's activities or the terrible goal they work to achieve. The countries that are aware either pay no heed to the danger the Order poses or hopes to use the cult's activities for its own purposes.

Sects

The Order is broken up into four sects, two sects operating and practicing on each continent. While the means of sacrifice or rituals may differ between sects the ultimate goal and drive for all sects is the same, sow chaos and weaken the bonds of their god.

Through chaos the bonds are weakened, through destruction the chains are freed.
