Mental Trauma

Before becoming the head of the order the Black Maw was once a simple high elf from a forgotten civilization that was wiped out from a mysterious natural disaster. Growing to hate the balance of power in the realm the Maw wished to destroy the kingdoms of the world. After finding a powerful magic gem in the ash of his former home he found his answer and his salvation.
After truly welcoming and experiencing the full existence of his "god" the Black Maw was driven insane by its presence and the further use of the god's dark eldritch power slowly turned the Black Maw into a husk of their former self now an empty puppet for the god.
