Land of the Lost: Session 3 Report
General Summary
After spending the night in the ruins on the 6th day of First Blaze, 255 TTE, the party heard what sounded like a fight between the survivors of the cliff collapse and spent the night outside and a pack of local predators. Considering how easy it was for the party to climb the ruble and enter the ruins, they decided to quickly venture deeper into the ruins. They didn't act quickly enough and soon found themselves being chased through the passages by a pack of Rippers. It initially looked like the party was going to be overwhelmed, but they were able to create a bottleneck in a partially collapsed passage, allowing them to take on the Rippers a few at a time.
The rest of the day was spent navigating the seemingly endless underground corridors. Thankfully, it seems to consist mostly of a long central passage that branched off into side chambers. Eventually, they emerged on the terrace overlooking a mountainous valley littered with the snow-covered ruins of an ancient city and with countless places where the valley floor had collapsed into a vast cavern. Some holes were so large that the party could see that there were ruins underneath the ground too, suggesting that this had once been a great city that sat both atop the valley floor as well as filled the space carved out beneath it. Despite the obvious age and grandeur of the city, the party concluded that it does not seem to ben technologically advanced enough to be the Lost City of Pallium.
Having determined that they need to make it to the other side of the valley to consider their search for Pallium, they make their way down the slope and onto the valley floor. It didn't take long for them to notice that avian creatures are circling high above. Unsure of what these creatures may be, the party descended into the undercity, finding it to be much more expansive that previously thought. Of note, they spot a tower that rose from the undercity floor and through one of the large holes in the valley floor. They determined this to be the best place from which to get a lay of the land a began to head towards it.
Night fell and the party found a small mostly-intact structure to rest in. However, they were attacked by a group of Deep-Kin. The fight was difficult, but the party overpowered their opponents. It appeared that the underground ruins are not as abandoned as they thought and needed to take extra care moving forward.
