Western Empire
In the happiest times, I like to tell myself that the West is what the nation would have been if not for my father's selfishness. On the other hand, I also wonder if this viewpoint is fueled by my inner child's fascination with all of the neat things that can be accomplished through tech. It's a fascinating part of my legacy to future generations. Either way, it gives me a thrill!
Culture
Western culture is very progressive and relies heavily on Technomancy and its associated Technomaniacal Contraptions such as the enormous Sky Titan luxury airships. Technomancy powers everything around them: lighting, environmental comfort, transportation, communication, entertainment. However, there are ethical implications in its use as a key ingredient is refined from blood.
Technological Level
Recklessly progressive; they are leaders in all fields of Technoalchemy.
Agriculture & Industry
The economic development of the West is heavily skewed toward processing raw materials into finished goods, rather than agricultural development. As such, most of their land is heavily developed. In some cases, entire islands have been engulfed by a single megacity. To achieve this, they make ingenious use of towers, tunnels, and bridges.
Onward We Progress
Like the Eastern Union, the West also uses the Smor as the basic unit of currency. The economic interdependence of the East and West makes it impossible for them to do otherwise. No one has even suggested the idea in more than 5,000 years.
Cordial
The problem with the West is that they are all too dependent on technomancy. I know they say it's safe, but all the time in the news you read about another airship having a catastrophic theeksfur failure. I'll trust my soul to the winds and the waves, thank you kindly.
Cordial
The problem with the East is that they refuse to utilize their potential! Why settle for heating your water in an ever-hot pot, when you could have a tech that not only heats the water, but also steeps the tea, filters it, and sweetens it for you? They could be so much more than they are if they just made smarter things.
I love the duality between the West and East! It makes for an almost memetic look at national biases! Two minor things: One, the quote in the beginning of this article doesn't look to be closed, and two, did the Technological Level parts get mixed between West and East?
Yup. You're awesome! Thanks for the catches! Clearly not AI-written content, LOL LOL LOL! I was literally editing the two articles side-by-side in the same window.
