Spur Blacklake
Captain Spur Blacklake
The moment I find one of that man's bones , I'll throw his Relic into the sea.
Known as a thief, scoundrel, and pirate, Spur Blacklake was murdered by an uknown person after an argument. His ghost still haunts the North Dock Tower area of the Old Castle. His nearly decapitated body disappeared from the scene of his death before one of his bones could be collected and cured. His ghost remains unhelpful in locating his body.

Personal history
Born aboard a ship among the fjords of the rugged Icelands in 774 AD, his mother was a thief and his father was a sea raider. From a young age, he was taught to sail, and what cruelty he wasn't born with was clearly modeled for him to learn, practice, and perfect as he grew into young adulthood.
Legend says he took to pirating quicker than his mother's tit. Sometimes, legends be true.
Life at Sea
For a generation, Spur Blacklake ravaged Argentii's trade routes. He was especially fond of prowling the deep, narrow fjords of the Icelands and Smouge, pillaging ships carrying precious metals and stones out of the mines. He accused them of "feeding the conspicuous consumption of the West."
The combination of born talent, true passion, and the eager support of criminal parents during his early development put Spur on a quick path from butt-boy to Captain before he'd seen his 30th year. He had a sound ship, an adequate financial reserve, and was just looking for the perfect excuse to promote himself to Admiral.
That's when everything changed.
A Year, Missing
Caught in a vicious summer storm among the rocky islands of Smouge, he was thrown overboard. The flashing skies did little to illuminate the angry, storm-swollen waves among the ghostly mists. When it was all over, his crew held a memorial for those that had been washed away in the night, elected a new captain, and went on with heavy hearts.
A year and a day later, he washed up among the Shimmering Sands. Alive and unharmed; lean, but well-fed. He had no record or memory of where he'd been or how he'd gotten there. He remembered the storm, remembered going overboard, remembered the feeling of something grabbing hold of his arm. "Kelp...a squid...a person's hand?" he guessed. It was "all so vague, like a dream during a sweating fever."
New Uses for Old Skills
There was no keeping Spur from the sea and when his ship and crew heard he was alive, they made port to retrieve him. His replacement immediately and unhesitatingly relinquished command back to Captain Blacklake.
From that moment, they were all on a new mission: redistribute Argentii's wealth from those who had it, to those who needed it.
Morality & Philosophy
My darling girl, don't be stupid. The ends do, in fact, justify the means. To believe otherwise is to be the means to someone else's ends.
