Valoron Beth

Lord Valoron Beth

Son of Lord Balor Beth and Lady Oridwyn Odon   Wed to Ivina Beth, from Clan Vaugh. Father to Saedra, who would be wed to Arador Haust. Father to Carmyn, who would be wed to Daaraegh Eskmai.   Valoron ruled Clan Beth but briefly. His father Lord Balor died early in the War of East and West, fighting for King Griin the Firebrand. Legend claims he was slain by Oran Wulk himself, though other sources suggest Lord Oran was engaged with Berleigh to the north at the time.   Balor's death left Lord Valoron in a precarious position. His wife was a Vaugh, vassals of the Graunts and sworn to Clan Wulk, and both of his daughters were betrothed to Westerners. His eldest daughter Saedra was already being fostered at Raven's Roost. Many suspect Lord Valoron's marriage and the betrothals of his daughters, all made before the war, were intended as an alliance with the West in anticipation of betraying Clan Ainros when the inevitable conflict arose. Whatever his aims, these alliances served only to alienate Lord Valoron from his subjects. His daughters were called wolf-spawn, and his own lady wife was once hissed at by a peasant in the city. His own brother, Nodraigh, would rebel against Lord Valoron and declare for Kurnek the Usurper, taking a sizable contingent with him from Clans Capall, Slabh, Dylaen, and Moyra.   Lord Valoron died late in the War, and his brother Nodraigh would seize the lordship, quickly putting down a rebellion staged by their sister Sabrina, called Sabrina Screamer. Valoron ultimately fell in battle against the armies of his own brother, and his reputation would suffer greatly as a result. His lady wife Ivina fled Revelback shortly after Valoron's death, taking with her their younger daughter Carmyn. They sought protection in the Senn, Lady Ivina's homeland, and would remain there until the Rule of the West was firmly established.
