Aethir

An ancient Milosian term for sorcerers. It is unknown whether the word comes from the Aernigh or the Orrish, but it seems to refer to pre-bardic myths of a power that may have existed in opposition to modern magic. In those few myths remaining, the Aethir are strongly associated with ghosts, visions, and the Hadrash beneath the Barrow Sea. As the Age of Wonders gave way to the Imperial Age, the Aethir would be replaced by the Bards.
The term may have referred to the Ethels, and whatever power they used to subjugate the Rathi. Modern legends refer to the ancient Ethels as kings of the Aethir.
