Abhin

The supreme leader of the Satari Faith, the Abhin rules from the Holy Solulan in Khabar, where they and their clerics interpret holy scripture and dictate divine law.   Though "Abhin" is an office a person might hold, it is far more accurate to describe the Abhin as a holy incarnation. They are divine figures, voted into office by the Highest Clerics of the Holy Solulan after having been witnessed performing miracles. Abhins have been discovered as nearby as the docks of the Solulan's port and as far away as the Zoai River in Chonosh at the border of the Farther West in Northern Olveiria. Though unofficial, the search for an Abhin is considered the most sacred duty of any Drifter, those Satari priests charged with wandering the land and spreading the word.   Abhins have appeared only rarely throughout known history. The history of the Abhin is divided into three sections: the Legendary Abhins, so old their very existence is conjectural; the Pre-Earthly Abhins, those who ruled before Satar walked the earth and created the Satari faith, and the Earthly Abhins, those who came after Satar's earthly death, who ruled from the Holy Solulan and whose acts are the best recorded.   In the entirety of humanity's existence, there have been eleven known Abhins: two Legendary, four Pre-Earthly, and five Earthly.   Many Satari priests have suggested that all religions, however divorced from the Satari faith, were modeled on the existence of Abhins: a supreme leader, seen as divine, followed unquestioningly by all. Some Yaalkese Sagai have even suggested that the notion of kingship was modeled after the Abhin, and that all governance came from Benevolence the Creator, the first Abhin. Many have noted earthly religious offices, such as the Prince of Hosts in the Host Keeping Faith, or the Deiads of the Carnad Diarchy, that seem almost identical, save that they are overtly mortal offices with uninterrupted inheritance, clearly intended to stabilize the transference of generational power, rather than promote earthly enlightenment.   Indeed, most find that the Abhin's primary purpose is not to interpret scripture and review precedence, so much as to help civilization leap forward. Governance, writing, warcraft, magics, even language itself have all been attributed to the Abhins.
