Wandering Pantheon

The Wandering Pantheon is worshiped by the Dwarven cultures, especially those of the floating cities.

Saints and Demigods

The deities of the Wandering Pantheon have broad, and fairly vague, domains. The deities are believed to be distant beings. Some regional variants believe them to have simply achieved a level of power and enlightenment that has left the concerns of the moral world trivial to them. Others views them more as slightly anthropomorphic concepts or physical laws than as thinking, sentient beings. What all variants of the Wandering Pantheon can agree on is that the gods and goddesses rarely, if ever, take any sort of intervention, or even notice, of the mortal world. Instead, most of its adherents worship a system of saints and demigods, each possessing a much more niche and narrowly-defined subset of their patron deity's domain.

While different cultures have different variants of the relationship between Saints, Demigods, and the deities themselves, typically Saints are semi-divine beings of purely mortal origin while demigods are semi-divine beings formed from either a divine origin or a union of divine and mortal origins. Saints typically "borrow" power from the deities, either by earning the deity's favor or by wresting it from them (sometimes on a continual basis). Conversely, demigods are believed to have their own innate power.

Some variants feature both Saints and Demigods and, when they do, the Demigods are typically viewed as more powerful. However, most variants of the Wandering Pantheon feature one to the complete, or near-complete, exclusion of the other. Saints and Demigods are both believed to take a much more active role in the mortal world and are more invested in aiding (or harming) those who live there. The Saints are often depicted as being more benign toward mortals; their efforts to aid limited by their lack of innate power rather than other specific forces. Demigods are a more mixed lot and vie against each other more frequently.
