Labyrinth Beast
Residents of the planet Carnis, they are the primary vector for the Labyrinth Mutation
Labyrinth beasts come in many shapes and sizes, but all possess prehensile pseudopods of some kind. Though their shapes vary greatly, they're unified in a few ways, such as that genetic samples point to them all possessing the same sequences, but it appears that each shape of labyrinth beast expresses their genes differently. In addition, rather than muscles, the labyrinth beasts possess interwoven tendrils, the same tendrils that make up their native environment. On the topic of their native environment, as well, their preferred biome is one composed of tendrils and flesh, typically bored underground. The environment, due to this connection of the tendrils, can be viewed as an extension of the species.
When the species migrates to a new region, the largest, most capable among them plants a 'seed', a bulb of flesh that will, in time, grow into a proto-labyrinth. Those afflicted by the Labyrinth Mutation are sometimes compelled to plant such a seed in their travels, though this really rather depends on the degree of influence the mutation puts upon the individual in question.
