The Great Old Ones
The Gods of the Gods, the Great Old Ones were a pantheon of cruel and destructive deities who ruled over Apa Axas in the times before The Beacons & Travesties, and even before The New Gods. They were sealed away from time, long before The Splitting Suns. They are said to represent the oldest of alignments.
While there may have been hundreds, perhaps even thousands of them, few Great Old Ones are known of in modern times. These include:
- Hadar, the Father of Thought and the God of Change and Madness. Thought to be the father of Retch, he is one of the few Great Old Ones who is still feared to this day.
- Cegilune, the Goddess of Magic. Cegilune was the first of the Hags.
- Apa Primus, the Goddess of Creation. Apa Primus is thought to be the mother of all Apas, and as such is responsible for the creation of Apa Axas.
- Feladira, the Goddess of Chance and Luck. Feladira is said to be the source of serendipity and misfourtune alike, and can still be invoked by the lucky few.
- Squial, the God of Destiny. Squail is said to have created the concept of Time itself, and knows the true path of all destinies.
- Jung Pau, the God of Disparity. Jung Pau is said to be a constantly shifting mass of black and white energy, and is known to both help and hinder those who encounter him.
- Kahiladman, the God of the Void. Kahalidman is the abscence of all things, and as such is the only Great Old One to survive past the God Severment.
- Catatrix, the Goddess of Justice. Catatrix invented the concept of the truth, and brings violent retribution on those who would cause offence to her greatest creation.
- Will, the God of Progress. Will represents both the success and failure of progress, and has been known to topple empires with a mere whisper.
- Ysradix, the God of Flesh. Ysadrix is one of the few Great Old Ones to be witnessed in modern times, and his presence set in motion the events that would lead to the formation of The House of Sinew.
