Mind-Touched

Mind-Touched are a subcategorization of Far-Touched. With many of the other forms of Far-Touched, such as the Deep-Touched and Flesh-Touched, there is a physical element that can completely alter the body of the victim, rendering them unrecognisable. While the Mind-Touched may have gotten off lightly in terms of physical mutations, looking much like a normal human or elf, despite the darkened eyes and propensity to weep blood, the chemical makeup of their brains and internal organs have been completely changed. This is to help accommodate the Mind-Touched unique characteristic; the presence of a psychic entity, be it a brain-worm, altered Mind Flayer or slaad tadpole, psychic entity or living dream. This entity often places itself around the Mind-Touched’s brainstem or the amygdala, making it impossible to remove by most physicians or magicians without severe brain damage or even death. Due to their more subtle physical changes they are often tolerated by other races, living amongst them, although this acceptance is more of a reluctant tolerance, and they are often seen as outsiders and shunned in many communities without the patience to understand the Mind Touched’s plight.
