Deep-Touched
Deep-Touched are a subcategorisation of Far-Touched. Those who live on the coasts of Lucidity have a lot of worry about, from the destructive storms to rumours of Kraken breeding grounds just off-shore, but any fishermen or sailor will tell you that their greatest fear would be the Deep-Touched. This fear is often unfounded, as the Deep-Touched are merely victims of Far Realm Incursions, or the twisted Deep Ones, ruthless natives of the Far Realm who come to Apa Axas to steal mortals for food and breeding, who have been cursed with a mutagenic effect, much like other Far-Touched. What separated the Deep-Touched are their fish-like qualities, such as their gills, large lipless mouth, and dark scales. This gives them a similar visage to the Deep Ones, a fact that is only compounded by another shared trait between these two creatures: a mesmerising subtle hypnosis that makes others more amiable to them. This ability, while temporarily helpful to escape threatening situations, leaves the recipient feeling violated and disturbed and therefore, the Deep-Touched have earned mistrust of most other mortal races. As such, the Deep-Touched often live in communities of their own kind, usually in the swamps or coastal regions of Lucidity.
