Lamia

Lamia are a subspecies of Fiends, most closely related to Demons. Lamias are said to stem from a deal with a powerful demon, in which a long-forgotten king was transformed into a hideous Lion-like beast as a result of a wish for 'everlasting majesty'.
When on Apa Axas, Lamia make their homes within desert ruins, and their diet is nearly entirely composed of Human flesh. Some Lamia would mimic the sounds of Human infants crying or a weak cry for help, in order to lure any wandering Humans into their caves, where they were promptly torn apart. While they have been known to kill Elves and Dwarves, Lamia do not consume them. Why this is is unknown, but it is thought to be a simple matter of taste.
