Shearing Griffin
Basic Information
Dietary Needs and Habits
Shearings are infamous for their prey of choice: other griffins. They commonly hunt the young of royal griffins or full-grown Bushgrass Griffins, but when that prey is unavailable, they also hunt large birds. They circle the skies, waiting for an ideal target, and then dive at speeds of 300mph or more, stunning their meal out of the sky.
When unable to find prey in the sky, shearings hunt more like their cheetah ancestry, stalking unsuspecting prey through the tall grasses before shooting out at a sprint. They can sustain a speed of 80mph for up to a minute, easily outrunning most potential prey, usually consisting of antelope, gazelle, or young megafauna.
