Constabulary

The Constabulary is the government-funded army of Caraegwyn and its principal land warfare force. Maintaining several garrisons of professional soldiers across the realm even through times of peace, the Constabulary stands ever ready to defend the Summer Kingdom. Over the past centuries of peace in the Heartlands, the Caraegweni have mainly battled against invasions from the nearby islands of Orkney.   Contents

Duties and functions

The Constabulary is responsible for maintaining a constant state of readiness for the purposes of the military defense of Caraegwyn. Its forces are the first responders to any emerging threat, often coordinating their efforts with the Royal Navy to deploy troops quickly across the nation's coastlines.   In times of war, the bulk of troops fielded by the Summer Kingdom come from the levies mustered by the Noble Houses as vassals of the Crown, but the Constabulary are the highly-trained and well-disciplined core of these troops.

Organization structure

The Constabulary is divided into six sub-groups known as brigades. Each brigade has their own fortified base, one for each of the five provinces and one for the capital city.   The most significant ranks of the Constabulary are the following:
  1. High Constable: Supreme commander of the Constabulary. Member of the Council of the Round Table.
  2. Field Constable: Commander of an army group or a front, appointed and used only in wartime.
  3. Constable: Commander of a brigade.
  4. Major: Commander of a company.
  5. Lieutenant: Commander of a unit.
  6. Sergeant: Commander of a squad.
