51.0 - Heart of Preservation

Sil'Ferrous now will occaisionally see "ghosts" of things now that he's used the last charge of the water temple thing.   Holg is angery at Paritet people due to failed sanity save with Ånd.   Ixen can feel the presence of chaotic forces, as well as their absences. He knows the location of Ild, and the general direction of any other living dragon. He is immune to fire damage, but vulnerable to cold.   Kallista +2 sanity check for rifts. Can control the destination unless rolls <10=Amalgamation. Rolling a 1 tears open an uncontrolable rift that has stuff start pouring out of it. Korinth gives instruction to focus on pulling on the threads of time magic from the other world, this gives more control.   Atani took dream research flyer   Wind magic is out of wack because there's no energy magic to counter balance it, unless And releases some of it.

Plot points/Scenes

Recap

The party worked their way through Bevarelse's mind to help him control the returned ice aspect, which was successful. Now, it's time to muster resolve and carry on with the rest of the plan.

The Plan

Level to 10   Current Day Water Cycle Day 22, evening   Hearts can be destroyed with the opposite element, or any of Bevarelse's can be broken with Omdanne's claw. Example, Atani can break Vand's using a Natur "weapon".   When one of the hearts is broken, the elemental power goes to explode out from the heart, and knocks everyone down.

Hearts of Preservation

They stand up and are in Bevarelse's mind. They open their eyes and find themselves in a void, lit only by frequent strikes of lightning, which illuminates in flashes that they are standing on top of a vast, dark ocean of water that only ever ripples as they move across it, no matter how fast. A gentle soft-glowing snow falls, flakes very cold and sit for a while on the surface of the water before dissipating. One area is permanently lit, from an unknown source, but it's right near them; Bevarelse.

Vand

While still humanoid, Bevarelse's draconic features are far more pronounced. He looks more confident, but tentative. Nothing is happening. He takes a careful step forward, and is yanked beneath the water. The water begins to swirl right where he vanished beneath the surface, gaining momentum alarmingly fast. A vicious whirlpool is growing. You catch snippets of Bevarelse, struggling to keep himself above the surface. As the swirling grows and gets closer to you, you can feel its pull and your feet begin sinking into the water. It will pull you under soon.   Get Bevarelse to the bottom safely, using skills checks. Sanity saves for everyone, even Bevarelse. DC 10. A failed saved results in the next tier of the following, making it more difficult to actually get to the bottom:   5 rounds to the bottom.   Round 1: Feeling of comfort. 40ft down. 6 seconds. Round 2: Release your held breath. No panic as your lungs flood with water. 80ft down. 12 seconds Round 3: Things start to go black. 120 ft down. 18 seconds. Round 4: Unconsciousness. 160 ft down. 24 seconds. Round 5: Death Saving throw. 200 ft = Portal. 30 seconds.   At the bottom is a figure lying curled up on the "floor" (which is just a pitch black surface). Bevarelse helps the figure stand up, also saying "I am sorry" to them. The figure stands; Bevarelse, but more androdynous and with very long bronze hair that have streaks of seafoam green, deep blue eyes, tanned skin, younger, and naked. The figure takes Bevarelse's offered hand and apology. "It's been a long time, and you've learned much." The whirlpool stops, and the water crashes around the party, sending everyone out of Bevarelse's mind.   Add "A gentle tide ebbs and flows, making the "ground" constantly sway, and provides a soft, steady illumination." to the mindscape description.   Add "The bottom half of his irises are shaded a deeper blue." to Bevarelse's description.

Blæst

Bevarelse's expression is set in determination. He stares at something in the sky; a humanoid figure flying through the dark clouds above. "He will run. I must catch him." Party needs to figure out how to get up there and help Bevarelse catch aspect of wind.   Chase, using skill checks. A creature can dash number of times equal to 3 + CON mod. Each additional dash after that requires DC 10 CON check at end of their turn or gain 1 level of exhaustion.   Blæst: https://5e.tools/bestiary.html#adult%20blue%20dragon_mm   Roll a d6 every turn? 1. a gust of wind pushes you off course, costing the turn basically 2. a bolt of stray lightning strikes you, DC 15 dex save or take 4d10 lightning damage 3. a thick cloud surrounds you and obscures your view, 15ft of difficult terrain 4. Frightful Presence. Each creature of the dragon's choice that is within 120 feet of the dragon and aware of it must succeed on a DC 17 Wisdom saving throw or become frightened for 1 minute. A creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success. 5. A coalescence of wind appears and attacks: https://5e.tools/bestiary.html#air%20elemental_mm 6. no complications   Bevarelse catches hold of Blæst and pulls him in close. Blæst looks very much like Bevarelse but with with short sandy colored hair, purple eyes, dark skin, younger, and naked. "I'm sorry," Bevarelse whispers, hugging Blæst. Blæst's stiffness loosens and he closes his eyes, returns the embrace, "We'll do it right this time." he says and the wind sweeps everyone away and out of Bevarelse's mind.   Add "A gentle breeze swirls around, clearing the clouds in the sky and making the snowflakes dance in spirals" to the mindscape description.   Add "Spears of purple spread from his pupils." to Bevarelse's description.

Hearts of Chaos

They stand up and find themselves in Omdanne's mind. A rocky and tumultous ground contantly rumbles beneath your feet, gouts of flame erupting from the cracks with alarming frequency, though it does help provide light. A more constant but soft light comes from small floating motes of white light all around, and contrasting against those motes are motes of pure blackness, almost sucking in the light around them. You hear her voice before you see her.

Natur

"No. No! NO!" You look to find Omdanne, eyes wild and drilling into you, her fury would surely have torn you to pieces if she could move. She's tangled in roots, vines, and thorny branches. "What have you done?!" She growls, very inhumanly. The vegetation spreads a great deal from here, making a sort of brambly, ~10ft tall at most forest. Angry tears streak down her face. "You've killed her!!" She devolves into more or less incoherent screaming and growling as she claws her way into the forest, rather than towards the party. A short time later, the vegetation blooms outward across the barren land, this time untangled and with far more flowers and softer bits. Omdanne stands, imposing. "Leave," she commands and they are dragged down by vines through the earth. Everyone returns back to their physical bodies, but at half health.   Getting touched by the white energy orbs will heal 4d10, but the black ones will deal 4d10 necrotic.   10d10 fire damage from any fire geysers.   Add "" to the mindscape description.   Add "Her irises are green around the pupil." to Omdanne's description.

Ild

Add "" to the mindscape description.   Add "" to Omdanne's description.

Ånd

Add "" to the mindscape description.   Add "" to Omdanne's description.
Bevarelse's final description: With all his aspects returned, he can't seem to keep the draconic nature from his humnaoid form any more. The bottom half of his irises are shaded a deeper blue. Spears of purple spread from his pupils, which are now a reptilian slit shape. Spots of shiny silver scales are visible on the edges and extremities of his skin. More of his teeth are visibly sharper and the tips of fingers are definitively more claw than humanoid hand.   When Bevarelse turns back into a silver dragon, he looks a bit different; a lot more blue in his silver coloring, and the fin membrane connecting between his spines along his back and tail are receding down. And he's longer than before and his limbs seem fairly shorter.   Ixen will leave Riner Vand, hanging out outside on top of the mesa-like island and commune with Ild. Ild can come by and pick him up, which is also a great chance for the party to see that Omdanne and Co are aware they are up to something. An imposing still-frame of him and Ild lit by a corona of sunrise and a single gaze before he departs. But he already said everything he meant to say. If you think of anything dramatic feel free to include it. I can't think of anything past that. I suppose leave the Paritet ritual dagger?   Prepare for combatting Omdanne, Ild, and And; where? battle plan? recruitment? rest.   List of potential allies 48.0 - Crossroads   Omdanne's claw: 47.0 - Intersecting Fates   con check with int mod for "dirty magic"   setback-dangerous damage: 4d10 dangerous-deadly: 10d10
What happens if they kill Omdanne before her aspects? Then it's just an easier fight. If Natur isn't resurrected, then there's nothing she can do, and then they can just destroy the heart after Omdanne is dead; the magic is released into the world and opens the seal to the Amalgamation.
How can we start to tie in Holg's heritage and Kallista's heritage with this world?
