Ånd Heart Item in Amalgama | World Anvil

Ånd Heart

When the heart was presented to me, it was contained; somehow condensed into a small, oval stone set into a ring. Amazing how something so incredibly dangerous could be manipulated by the hands of mortals.
— Grandshield Joss Collis
Before its quelling, this "heart" was a dark cloud of energy with flashes of radiant light that swirled with the stormy mass. It was heavier than it should be—given that nothing about it was solid—approximately the weight of a normal stone its size. The extremities of the fog dissipated, slightly molding around whatever it rested on.

  • Ånd's Ward. An attacker that can't be blinded is immune to this feature. Twice per long rest.
  • Ånd's Generosity. Whenever you regain hit points, you may choose to instead have another creature receive those hit points. The healing cannot be split between multiple targets.

  • Ånd's Claws. You can use an action to cast Spirit Shroud, without the option for cold damage. After you cast the spell, roll a d4. On a 1-3, you can't cast this spell again until you've finished a long rest.
  • Archaic Knowledge. With a successful Sanity check, you tap into the knowledge of the heart and can decipher written and spoken Script.

Wondrous Item

Legendary Requires Attunement

When the bond is strengthened, the character makes a Sanity save DC 15. On a failed save, refer to the Long Term Madness table in the DMG. On a successful save, no madness happens, but they may still be unnerved by feeling the bond deepen. On either a success or fail, the bond is still strengthened.

  • One with Ånd. Ånd's Claws and Ånd's Indignation can each be used up to 3 times per long rest. Additionally, if the spell's cast time is a bonus action, they no longer require a action to cast.

  • Touched by Chaos. Bonding with Ånd has warped your sense of reality and self. Your eyes begin to shift color, one with a ring of ghostly-white and the other with a ring of deathly-black reaching out from your pupils and mixing with your normal eye color. Ånd's power is starting to flow naturally through you. When a creature damages you with a weapon attack or a spell, you can focus your hatred on that creature. Until the end of your next turn, you have advantage on attack rolls you make against the creature. You can focus your hatred on only one creature at a time. But mingling so close with chaotic forces has a toll. Creatures with a challenge rating of 0, as well as plants that aren't creatures, drop to 0 hit points when within 10 feet of you.
