Ild Heart Item in Amalgama | World Anvil

Ild Heart

This "heart" was missing for decades, around the same time of Preserver Dolgos's death1. It was hiding as a simple grey heat stone with a small settlement of lizardfolk in Skimmel Desert. It's now reported to have fiery veins sunk in it's surface that resemble tiny rivers of lava. The veins of color pulsate like a heartbeat.

  • Ild's Forge. At the end of a long rest, you can touch one nonmagical object that is a suit of armor or a simple or martial weapon. Until the end of your next long rest or until you die, the object becomes a magic item, granting a +1 bonus to AC if it's armor or a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls if it's a weapon.
3
  • Ild's Defiance. You can't be blinded, deafened, petrified, or stunned.

  • Archaic Knowledge. With a successful Sanity check, you tap into the knowledge of the heart and can decipher written and spoken Script for 1 hour.

  • One with Ild. Ild's Aegis and Ild's Rebuff can each be used up to 3 times per long rest. Additionally, if the cast time is a bonus action, they no longer require a action to cast.
  • Touched by Chaos. Bonding with Ild has warped your sense of reality and self. Your eyes begin to shift color, a ring of flame-red spreading from your pupils and mixing with your normal eye color. Ild's power is starting to flow naturally through you. One nonmagical weapon in your possession becomes a +1 weapon whenever you wield it. But mingling so close with chaotic forces has a toll. You gain the following indefinite madness: "What should make me angry makes me laugh, what should make me happy makes me furious."

Wondrous Item

Legendary Requires Attunement

When the bond is strengthened, the character makes a Sanity save DC 15. On a failed save, refer to the Long Term Madness table in the DMG. On a successful save, no madness happens, but they may still be unnerved by feeling the bond deepen. On either a success or fail, the bond is still strengthened.
