Labourd
Government
Labourd is the capital of the Viscounty of Labourd, a border territory between the Kingdom of Navarre and the Grand-Duchy of Akitainia. Nominally sworn to the Grand-Dug, the territory often falls under Navarese control.
Industry & Trade
Marking the Southern end of Silvercoast, the city is an important trading hub, connecting County of Tolosa, Port De La Lune and Asturias as the three routes merge at the city.
The city has a reputation for the production of chocolate and resin.
Infrastructure
Labourd is built up along two rivers, the Nive and the Adour, with the smaller Nive running through the city walls. Grand Labourd and Petit Labourd are divided by this river, connected by a network of 5 bridges.
Guilds and Factions
House Lormont are currently the vicomptes of Labourd, gaining a fortune from the production of wax and resin.
History
The silting of the Adour caused calamity for the maritime trade, but the Counts of Foix, together with local Kriores troupes, dredged the river, returning its natural flow and bringing an age of growth and prosperity to the Southern city.
Architecture
The city is dominated by half-timbered architecture, with distinctive red and green shutters.
Geography
Labourd is located along the Adour River, on the Southern edge of Silvercoast and the Pleg-mor Gwaskogn. Immediately to its South, Asturias, which takes up the Northern Coast of the Shatterlands continues to the West.
The city itself sits atop a flat relief at the confluence of the Adour River and the Nive River,
