Stonebook Fortress
Architecture
Stonebook fortress is actually a large fortress built as a semi circle into the mountain with a smaller and mostly internal fortress inside of it. Past the dual fortresses lies the Stonebook library. The inner library is 25 floors, each roughly 15 ft, and goes downward. There 5 massive floors that contain living quarters, underground gardens, mess halls and a store or two that go upwards. Instead of fire there are glowing crystals placed into the walls or on scones that provide the light.
History
Built during the Age of Gods, Stonebook Fortress was built by the Oculi and has stood over the centuries. It is built into one of the Watchful Mountains with the bulk of it being in the actual mountain. The Stonebook Fortress is actually a massive library built into the mountain to serve as a bastion of knowledge and a temple to the Goddess of Knowledge and Wisdom, Korystine, the divine being that created the Oculi. The Oculi built a decent sized fortress that is primarily in the mountain and originally was difficult to spot from a distance. After the formation of the Saladyne Empire, Emperor Adrian Saladyne had a greater and larger fortress built into the mountain around the original one creating this dual fortress structure. Resources were supplied to help the Oculi expand upon their library and embassies were established all over the world to assist in their mission to preserve knowledge. Once the Order of The Open Book was established they based themselves in the outer fortress and have remained there since. Despite the heavy fortification the library is open to public use as well as guests who wish to stay for an extended period of time to use it.
